About

This blog is dedicated to the love of my life: Hong Kong as well as to the enjoyment of food and all the beautiful and exciting things that make life worth living.

It was love at first sight when I arrived in Hong Kong back in early 1992 and more than two decades later, I can honestly say that I am still to this day in love with this city and I wake up every single morning thinking: “Hong Kong I love you!”

Besides my great passion for Hong Kong, being a shipscook’s daughter I am also obsessed with food and have fun experimenting in the kitchen. A self-declared “chopoholic”, I am happiest when I have my hands on fresh ingredients wielding my big Chinese chopper. I love “all” food, that I must say up front. My favourite food however is Thai and I pride myself in preparing classic Thai dishes with authentic ingredients and without taking shortcuts. I also adore most Southeast Asian cuisines and will try just about anything no matter how bizarre (with the exception of those creatures I believe should be protected rather than consumed).

Another hobby of mine is photography. 99% of my photos are taken with my old smartphone. I do crop for effect and sometimes click the “enhance” button on my camera app, but that is about it. I consider myself not a real photographer but a “happy snapper” and I often shoot pictures through a window of a moving vehicle. I think that the beauty of nature has no need for Photoshop. The pictures I take are to realistically record what I see and hopefully, delight others by sharing the beauty I see all around me.

Though I am a writer at heart, I do not want this blog to be about my words so much as about my images. Enough said.
